MT Sobek

Since 1991 when the mountaineers of Mountain Travel joined forces with the river rafting team of Sobek Expeditions to form MT Sobek, travellers have been delighted to join their active adventure journeys across the globe.  MT Sobek prides itself in taking an active role in the preservation of the world’s unique cultures and delicate environments, supporting worthy organizations that contribute to the betterment of societies around the world and protection of the wild and beautiful places they visit.

A few of their conservation stories:

MT Sobek is an established supporter of the Galapagos Conservancy dedicated exclusively to the long-term protection of the Galapagos Islands, in collaboration  with the Charles Darwin Foundation, the Galapagos National Park. In India and Nepal MT Sobek guide Brian Weirum has made saving tigers his life’s mission and  developed a Save the Tiger trip which has raised over $300,000 to help support tiger conservation. In Alaska, MT Sobek promotes and advocates for The Alaska Conservation Foundation, the only public foundation solely dedicated to conservation in Alaska.

Explorandes

Since 1975, Explorandes has been a leader in sustainable tourism in Peru, setting an example for companies worldwide on community partnership and engagement. They have been recognized three times as South America’s Leading Green Tour Operator. In 2001, they became the first company to implement an Environmental Management System (EMS) certified under the ISO14001 standard.
